Pollard, who underwent a successful heart transplant at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in February, expressed his gratitude and admiration for the donor's family in a heartfelt letter.
Having inherited a heart condition from his father, Pollard knew for years that a transplant was his only solution. Despite the challenges of finding a suitable donor organ for his large frame, doctors eventually found a match that saved his life. Pollard, a 11-year NBA veteran and member of the 2008 champion Boston Celtics, emphasized the importance of organ donation awareness during his recovery.
