After three disastrous seasons as a starting quarterback with three different teams, Carson Wentz is reportedly set to accept a role as a back-up.
The 30-year-old former Super Bowl winner and second overall draft pick is garnering interest from several teams, ESPN's Jeremy Fowler has reported, in what will almost certainly not be a starting gig.
Wentz has had a disastrous few seasons after his fall apart while with the Philadelphia Eagles - where he looked set to become their franchise quarterback for years to come.
After a solid rookie season, Wentz went on to have an incredible second season and would have almost certainly won the MVP that year before suffering a season-ending injury - with back-up Nick Foles going on to win the Super Bowl that year.
After that year, Wentz struggled to re-find his form from the previous season and performed at around a league-average level the following season.
But around that time, 12 anonymous Eagles players spoke to PhillyVoice on Wentz, who accused him of being 'selfish and egotistical', as well as one brandishing him as a 'bully' towards then offensive coordinator Mike Groh - reportedly not being open to coaching and changing plays himself.
Despite this report, the Eagles signed Wentz to a four-year, $128 million extension just weeks later - a huge call to make after his struggles the previous season.
The following year, Wentz performed again at around a league-average level, but the 2020 season saw him perform as one of the worst starting quarterbacks in the league.
That lead to him losing his starting job to Jalen Hurts, and he was traded away less than two years after receiving his huge contract extension - with the Eagles having to eat millions in salary cap space to move on from him.
After being traded to the Indianapolis Colts, Wentz struggled yet again with the offense being held back with him at quarterback.
He found himself traded once again last off-season, going to the Washington Commanders, where he lasted just seven games as the starter as he lost his role to back-up Taylor Heinicke and his contract expiring.
Heading into the new season, Wentz' options will be limited - with each team seemingly being set at quarterback.
However the teams he could join who could give him the best chance of starting, could be the New England Patriots, Arizona Cardinals, Tampa Bay Buccaneers or Atlanta Falcons.
