A Florida man with a controversial past is making headlines as he runs for a city council seat in Palm Bay, aiming to bring positive change to the coastal town. Michael Bruyette, 59, who was previously convicted of murder in Massachusetts, spent three decades in prison for his involvement in a fatal incident in 1985.
Bruyette's case stemmed from a situation where he and two others were solicited by a friend to kill her abusive ex-husband. The plan was allegedly fueled by the ex-husband's abusive behavior towards the friend. Bruyette, who was 19 at the time, admitted to participating in the attack but maintained that he did not intend to kill the man.
