Former Michigan State Spartans backup quarterback Anthony Russo has received an invitation to the Carolina Panthers’ rookie mini-camp.
Russo transferred to Michigan State from Temple before the 2021 season and battled with Payton Thorne for the starting quarterback gig. As you know by now, Thorne won the job and held it throughout the Spartans’ 11-2 season.
In his one season with the Spartans, Russo appeared in three games and completed 7-of-9 passes for 43 yards. Prior to his time with the Spartans, Russo appeared in 26 games for Temple and completed 536-of-899 attempts for 6,292 yards and 44 touchdowns.
The Panthers’ rookie mini-camp will be held from May 13 – 15.
