Former Michigan State wide receiver Jayden Reed wasn’t about to let a severe eye infection keep him from participating in the 2023 NFL Combine.
NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport shared on Saturday that Reed was going to try and push ahead during the day’s wide receiver combine events, despite having an eye infection so aggressive it was nearly closing the eye shut.
Well, Reed confirmed Rapoport’s report with a selfie that, indeed, showed his eye very much nearly closed with the infection. The wideout rocked sunglasses during his combine media availability.
It didn’t seem to dampen Reed’s spirit as he cleverly threw in a winking emoji to go along with a crying laughing one. It looks like it’ll take more than an eye infection to get Reed down during such a crucial weekend.
I can confirm 😉😂 https://t.co/3EcsUiNHp4 pic.twitter.com/uL4MbFL3tr

Reed looks to be a mid-round selection in April’s 2023 NFL Draft, and he’ll be trying to show teams his abilities during Saturday’s drills. At least he’s keeping spirits high during what looks like a very uncomfortable setback.
