The only difference in the trajectories of Marcus Rashford and Kylian Mbappe is that the latter has been playing in a better team for much longer.
That's according to former Manchester United striker Louis Saha who believes Rashford would already be considered among the Ballon d'Or contenders had he been in a more confident side in recent years. The forward has roared back to his best form this season after enduring his worst-ever goal-scoring return last term.
Rashford already has 16 goals and six assists in 27 games and is far and away the top scorer in Erik ten Hag's improving side. Saha now rates him as one of the best players in the world on form.

"Marcus Rashford is a top five player in the world right now," he told BoyleSports. "The one difference between him and Mbappe is the trajectory as Mbappe has won the World Cup already so his confidence has been right up.
"If Rashford has a team that play with confidence, he’d already be on a list with all the usual Ballon d’Or contenders. Everytime he’s played with directness and his fitness is right, he’s unplayable. He’s an amazing talent and it’s been frustrating because he’s been overthinking."
Ten Hag has had a massive hand in Rashford's dramatic return to his best and Saha thinks he's doing the same for Aaron Wan-Bissaka. The right-back has earned an unexpected stint in the team due to Diogo Dalot's injury and has impressed.
Saha hopes Wan-Bissaka doesn't leave in January now despite rumours of a move to Wolves. "Luke Shaw and Marcus Rashford haven’t had the chance to improve in the past but with Ten Hag they now do," he added. Wan-Bissaka can still do this under Ten Hag as he’s a big player and has big potential.
"I know Wolves are interested but he can improve his attacking, he’s very physical and he can definitely improve. I will be sad if he goes to Wolves as he hasn’t been helped as much as he deserves."
