Former Manchester United striker Andy Cole has hit back at comparisons that have been drawn between himself and Liverpool striker Darwin Nunez, following the latter's poor showing in Thursday's Carabao Cup clash with Manchester City.
Nunez squandered a couple of clear chances for the Reds, including one effort that was dragged wide of Stefan Ortega's post when it looked easier to score, as Jurgen Klopp's team crashed out of the competition against Pep Guardiola's men. After the game, some supporters compared the Uruguayan to United's former forward.
Having spotted the claims, Cole took to Twitter to defend himself. "Cole... Nunez... Not sure where this nonsense started," the 51-year-old posted.
