Former Manchester United playmaker Ander Herrera has rejoined Athletic Bilbao on loan from Paris Saint-Germain.
The 33-year-old left the Spanish club for Old Trafford in 2014, going on to make 189 Reds appearances and lifting the Europa League, FA Cup and League Cup. The £28.85m signing departed for PSG in 2019 where he has won two titles and a Coupe de France.
But after suffering depleted game time in recent years, Herrera has returned to his former club on an initial season-long loan with an option to buy. It was thought that his contract at the French giants would be terminated but it appears as though the player’s deal is still valid.

However, for all intents and purposes, it seems as though his time in Paris is over with the move back to his homeland. A statement from Athletic Bilbao said: “Athletic Club and Paris Saint-Germain have reached an agreement for the loan of Ander Herrera until the end of the season.
“The loan includes the option for Athletic Club to acquire all of the footballer's federative and financial rights for the 2023-24 season.” Speaking upon re-signing for his former club, Herrera said: "Coming back is a great joy.
“I am very excited to be able to continue that beautiful story. The challenges and demands are great. I'm really looking forward to it"
