Jesse Lingard was always likely to find it tough to make his mark at Nottingham Forest, it has been claimed.
Despite being a free agent, the 29-year-old was the most high profile of the Reds’ 22 signings in the summer transfer window. He arrived with plenty of expectation and fanfare after Forest pipped West Ham United to his signature.
So far, however, Lingard has struggled to hit anything like the kind of heights it was hoped he would for Steve Cooper’s side. He has been in and out of the team, and he is yet to get on the scoresheet or register an assist in the 11 appearances he has made.
