Former Made In Chelsea star Nicola Hughes has opened up about suffering severe leg cramps while pregnant.
The Dubliner announced she was expecting her first child with husband Charlie Tupper earlier this month.
Opening up about her pregnancy, Nicola revealed she is suffering from severe, painful leg cramps that have reduced her to tears, recalling how in one instance she could barely get up off the bathroom floor.

She said: “I’ve had this severe leg cramp, which is quite mental. I get it sometimes in my left leg. I think it’s got to do with your digestion. Your digestion is all messed up when you’re pregnant and you can’t really go to the bathroom properly. Like things just don’t work as well as they used to, and I think maybe if your digestion is clogged up… I don’t know if it’s related.
“Anyway, I got this severe cramp down my leg and it brings me to the point where I’m in tears, I’m literally crying.
“I think a lot of women have a fear about cramps and bleeding because they relate that to miscarriage.. as far as I know everything is still ok in there. Like before we had the first scan, you just don’t know.
“I had this severe cramp. I remember one day we were in Spain when one of them happened and I was just crying in the toilet.
“Charlie ran in, and I was like ‘I don’t know I cannot move, the cramp is so severe I literally cannot move’. I couldn’t go to the bathroom because I couldn’t relax. It was a horrible, horrible cramp.
“I get cramps in my belly and stuff, which does make you a little bit worried, but I think it’s all related to digestion because your digestion is all messed up,” she said on the What We Don’t Post podcast.
She also said she’s suffering from headaches as well as blocked sinuses, which she described as “really scary”.
“One of my other symptoms I couldn’t believe was that I get really congested...
“My sinuses are all blocked. Some nights I can’t breathe so I can’t sleep. It’s really scary.
“When I was in Spain – I’m not trying to scare anyone, the symptoms are different for everyone and honestly the pregnancy has been fine, you just deal with it – but in Spain I physically couldn’t sleep, and I woke up every morning wheezing.
“I actually thought I was getting pregnancy asthma.”
But she said she hasn’t gone off her food, except broccoli.
Earlier this month, the 32-year-old announced her pregnancy news in a sweet Instagram post, simply writing: “hi baby”.
Nicola, who has been with Charlie for five years, got married in a lavish Surrey ceremony in December in Botleys Mansion where Lottie Moss and bridesmaids Tiffany and Lucy Watson joined more than 100 other guests last year.
Nicola revealed how wedding plans had to be rejigged due to Covid-19 restrictions, with the ceremony being planned in a mere six weeks.
