Former Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge has made a “nuts” claim involving Fenway Sports Group.
The ex-Reds forward was recently released by Australian club Perth Glory, after spending just a single season down under. He made just six appearances for the club, and hasn’t played since the end of April.
Sturridge posted a video on Twitter on Thursday night, where he was watching the Boston Celtics basketball team win the NBA finals. The American team is based in the same city as the Boston Red Sox baseball outfit, which are owned by FSG.

The 32-year-old was at the TD Arena and posted a video of several moments of the game. In his caption, he compared the atmosphere in the arena to that at Anfield, and made a claim about the club’s owners.
“It’s nuts man,” wrote Sturridge on Twitter.
“The closest energy I get in an arena /stadium to Anfield is the TD garden in Boston.
“FSG chose a club like their city. The atmosphere is top tier right now!”
During Sturridge’s time at Liverpool, he quickly became a fan favourite after forming a strike partnership with Luis Suarez. The England international scored 68 goals in 160 appearances for the Reds, and was part of the squad that won the Champions League in 2018/19.
