Former Leeds United loanee Jean-Kévin Augustin has joined Swiss side Basel following a dismal spell at Ligue 1 side Nantes. Augustin played just three times during his time at Elland Road after joining the Whites in January 2020.
The French striker, who was on loan from RB Leipzig, failed to score in any of his three outings, before returning Leipzig. He joined Nantes in October 2020 but also failed to find the back of the net during his two seasons with the Ligue 1 side.
Augustin played in just a handful of games for Nantes last season with Long Covid said to have impacted the forward badly. And now the former Leeds loanee has moved to Switzerland to join Basel in an attempt to resurrect his career.

Much was made of Augustin's move to Leeds due to what transpired after his departure. Leeds were said to have agreed a fee of around £15m with Leipzig for the now 25-year-old should they earn promotion to the Premier League during their 2019/20 campaign.
However, with Augustin leaving Leeds early and COVID-19 delaying the entire season, Leeds cited extenuating circumstances as a reason for the deal to be nullified. Last summer, Roy Vermeer, Single Judge of the Players Status Committee at FIFA ruled Leeds must pay Leipzig more than €6.7m, in line with the first instalment of the agreed upon transfer deal.
Leeds appealed the decision via the Court of Arbitration for Sport who heard the Whites case in March. They have yet to reveal their verdict on the dispute between Leeds and Leipzig.
