Former Kosovo President Hashim Thaci has been sentenced to 25 years in prison after being found guilty of war crimes committed during the Kosovo conflict in the late 1990s.

The 58-year-old was sentenced by the Kosovo Specialist Chambers in The Hague on Wednesday following a trial that began in April 2023. He was convicted of arbitrary detention, cruel treatment, torture and murder.
