Former Italy star Antonio Cassano claims Erling Haaland is not the best striker at Man City

Former Real Madrid and Italy striker Antonio Cassano has claimed that Erling Haaland is not the best striker at Manchester City, despite comparing the forward to former Serie A stars Christian Vieri and Adriano.

The Norweigan striker has been in scintillating form since arriving at the Etihad Stadium from Borussia Dortmund in the summer, scoring 10 times in six Premier League matches.

Haaland, who bagged a hat-trick against Crystal Palace and Nottingham Forest, is currently the league's top goalscorer, having scored four more than second-placed Aleksandar Mitrovic, who has netted six for Fulham. Despite Haaland's impressive start to life with Pep Guardiola 's side, Cassano believes that Argentine forward Julian Alvarez has more 'quality' than the Norwegian, likening the former Dortmund man to Vieri and Adriano.

Speaking to Bobo TV on Twitch, which is hosted by Vieri, the former Italy international said: "For me Julian Alvarez is much stronger than Haaland.

"Haaland will score 90 goals, he is very strong, he is a much stronger [Romelu] Lukaku but Alvarez is more of a player than Haaland, qualitatively he is stronger.

"Haaland is not special, I see Adriano of Inter in Haaland, he has a bit of [Christian] Vieri's progression."

Lukaku, who re-joined Inter Milan on loan in the summer after an underwhelming return to Stamford Bridge, has scored once for the Italian outfit so far this campaign. Meanwhile, Alvarez — who arrived at the Etihad Stadium from River Plate in the summer — has scored twice in his four Premier League appearances and once in the Community Shield defeat to Liverpool.
