Former Ilva steelworkers to strike as shutdown threatens thousands of jobs in Italy

Workers at all former Ilva sites in Italy are set to go on strike on 12 October, unions have announced, following Thursday's meeting with the government at Palazza Chigo.

Meanwhile, production at the hot end of the Taranto steelworks was suspended on Friday. More than 2,000 workers in Italy remain at risk of losing their jobs.
