Former Home Alone actor Devin Ratray has pleaded guilty to two domestic violence charges on Wednesday, reaching a deal that will keep him out of prison.
The plea deal brings an end to Ratray’s domestic violence case three years after he was arrested following an altercation with a woman in December 2021. Ratray, 47, pleaded guilty to one count of domestic assault and battery by strangulation and another count of domestic assault and battery, according to court records.
Ratray was ordered to take behavior intervention plan classes and undergo drug and alcohol assessment. He was also ordered to have no contact with the woman he pleaded guilty to assaulting.
Ratray first rose to prominence in the early 1990s when he played Buzz McCallister in the first two Home Alone movies. His 2021 arrest came after his girlfriend alleged Ratray had punched her in the face, covered her mouth with his hand, and then tried to strangle her.
The woman, identified as Ratray’s girlfriend at the time of his arrest, told police that the altercation occurred after an argument at a bar. She stated that Ratray followed her back to their hotel room, pinned her on the bed, and began choking her. Ratray allegedly threatened her, saying, 'This is how you die,' before punching her in the face.
Ratray’s domestic violence trial was delayed last month after he was reportedly hospitalized in critical condition. The charges against Ratray also revived a 2017 rape allegation against him. Lisa Smith, who accused Ratray of rape in 2017, reached out to police after hearing about the domestic violence charges.
Ratray has not been charged in connection to Smith’s allegations and denied the accusations. He has since been released from the hospital and returned home.
