A former West Australian police officer is set to stand trial on a number of child abuse charges.

Mark Kevin Swain appeared in the Geraldton Magistrates Court this morning where he pleaded not guilty to two counts of indecently dealing with a child under the age of 16, three counts of encouraging a child under the age of 16 to engage in sexual behaviour and two counts of supplying alcohol to juveniles.

The court was previously told the 49-year-old allegedly met two 14-year-old girls on the Sugar Daddy Meet dating app, asking one of them to have sex with him at his Wandina home.

Mr Swain has been on bail since he was arrested in August last year, when the offences are alleged to have occurred.

The incidents allegedly happened while Mr Swain was off duty. He no longer works for WA Police and was formally discharged from the force in November 2022.

He is not currently living in Geraldton.

Mr Swain will return to court on July 26 when the matter is expected to be listed for trial.
