Former Everton player Hallam Hope has suffered 'serious injuries' after being attacked following Oldham Athletic’s defeat to Chesterfield at the weekend.
A statement released by the Latics on Monday afternoon has revealed that Hope was 'viciously assaulted' in the staff car park at Boundary Park following his side’s 2-0 defeat on Saturday. Hope played the full 90 minutes for his side in the loss.
Oldham also said in the statement that the matter had been reported to the police and added that they have provided CCTV footage in relation to the incident. The club also confirmed that Hope is set to be 'out of action for some weeks'.
