Former England star Andros Townsend run over by pitch roller in bizarre accident

  • Former Spurs and England star was mown down by a pitch roller in a freak accident while warming up during a game.
  • Andros Townsend , 35, was lucky to avoid serious injury after being crushed by the heavy machine as he took part in a half-time passing drill with his teammates in Thai League side PT Prachuap.
  • Footage shows a groundsman driving onto the field before colliding with an unaware Townsend and running the vehicle over the player’s legs and torso in front of an audibly shocked crowd.
  • Fortunately, Townsend was still able to take part in the match after the incident, playing a minute of the match in a substitute appearance as PT Prachuap went on to win 3-0.
  • Townsend now plays in Thailand after playing for Newcastle United, Crystal Palace, Everton, Luton Town before a stint in Turkey at Antalyaspor.
