Roy Hodgson has urged Conor Gallagher to stay and fight for his Chelsea career. Several Premier League clubs are understood to be keeping tabs on the midfielder.
An impressive campaign for Crystal Palace last season launched Gallagher into the limelight but lavish spending has plunged him down the pecking order at Stamford Bridge. Joao Felix, Mykhailo Mudryk and Noni Madueke’s arrivals this month have threatened the 22-year-old’s future further.
Reports suggested Everton had lodged a £45milion bid for Gallagher just 24 hours after receiving the same fee from Newcastle for Anthony Gordon. Former club Palace, where he forged a name for himself on loan in 2021-22, are also interested.

Several Chelsea players - including Gallagher - have been linked with a move to St James’ Park. However, former England boss Hodgson has advised the midfielder to stay put.
“I think he (Gallagher) is a very good player,” he told Sky Sports. “He is always going to be asking questions of the manager at Chelsea. ‘Am I not the man who can help you win the game today?’
“I think he will get matches, and his future is so bright that he doesn’t need to jump ship the first time he hits a small barrier. That is, (how) he is not the first name on the team sheet. I would like to see him stay really (and) keep going at Chelsea.”
