Former Dublin accountant makes it big in LA after "cursing like a proper Irishman" on hit show

Ryan Tubridy was delighted when witnessing the appearance of a Dublin character in hit US comedy show Curb Your Enthusiasm "cursing like a proper Irishman".

Actor Glenn Keogh plays the foul-mouthed Stan on the new series of Curb Your Enthusiasm, working directly with the show's legendary creator and star Larry David.

Glenn, who is originally from Blackrock in Dublin and moved to Australia then LA, spoke to Ryan Tubridy on his RTE Radio 1 show, explaining how his appearance on the show came to be.

The Dub plays Stan in the show, a frustrated props guy who has become a fan favourite.

He told Ryan that the show originally wanted a British character but when recording his audition tape, Glenn decided to don his Irish accent for the role.

He said: "It’s unscripted. They give you a scenario. My character Stan approaches Larry to complain about the young actor on the show. You play it out and it’s pure improv. You do a new take each time."

"It's hilarious," he told Ryan.

Glenn also told Ryan about some of the other shows and films he was lucky enough to be involved in, including the latest Marvel blockbuster Spiderman: No Way Home.

The actor was flown to Atlanta to film scenes as a roaming news reporter but joked with Ryan that he didn't appear on the screen in the end, although his voice could be heard.

"That’s what happens when you have a face for radio. You probably know something about that yourself," he said to Ryan.

Other shows that Glenn has appeared on include Sons of Anarchy, Criminal Minds, NCIS, Ray Donovan, Agents of SHIELD, Scorpion and Magnum PI.

Glenn also appeared in Hollywood blockbuster Transformers: Age of Extinction in 2014.

He revealed: "I've been lucky enough to work, chipping away at it out here."
