Former Dragons' Den star Nick Jenkins has been invited to open a new headquarters and warehouse for a fast-growing Wiltshire furniture firm. Mr Jenkins, founder of online greetings card company Moonpig, will cut the ribbon on Furnturebox's new state-of-the-art site in September.
The 15-metre-high warehouse is located on an 88,000 sq metre plot at St Modwen Park in Chippenham, near the M4. According to Furniturebox, the new space will give it room to grow and expand its product line. The firm said the extra space would also mean it is able to keep more lines in stock, and offer a later cut off for next day delivery.
The company is planning to cover the whole roof in solar panels and install nine electric car charging points at the site.
Furniturebox, a UK-based online furniture business, was launched by Monty George and Dan Beckles in 2015 when the pair were aged just 17. Last year the firm was listed as the fastest-growing online brand in the South West.
“We actually met Nick a few years ago back in the early days of Furniturebox," Mr Beckles told the Wiltshire Times . "Nick was kind enough to give Monty and I some amazing advice and support as we embarked on this life-changing journey starting up Furniturebox from Monty’s house, and we’re so happy Nick’s agreed to come back and help mark the occasion of us growing into a bigger and better home.”
Mr George said "a lot of thought" had been put into the site's wider layout.
"[There is] lots of green space, so our staff can take walks during their lunch, eat outside, and socialise with other companies on the site, which will all enhance the overall wellbeing for Furniturebox staff based there. It's a big focus for us," he added.
