Kendall Fuller is entering his ninth NFL season in 2024. After spending the previous four seasons with the Washington Commanders, it’s his first season in Miami. Six of Fuller’s eight NFL seasons came in Washington, as he returned in 2020 after a two-year stint in Kansas City.
Fuller didn’t have to wait long to face his former team. On Thursday, the Commanders were in Miami for a joint practice with the Dolphins and Fuller was busy covering his former teammate, wide receiver Terry McLaurin.
It was also the first time Fuller saw Washington’s new quarterback, rookie Jayden Daniels.
The longtime former Commanders came away impressed with Daniels.
“I haven’t watched the tape yet, but just how he carries himself, he looks like a pro. He looks like he has an edge,” Fuller said of Daniels via Nicki Jhabvala of The Washington Post.
“It looks like he trusts in his ability a lot. I mean, shoot, even just looking on YouTube and social media, I heard about him checking a play in the first preseason game, and to be able to have that confidence as a rookie to go out there and play football — because at the end of the day, a lot of the times we rely on X’s and O’s, and then sometimes you just got to play football. I’m excited to play against him Saturday, and I’m hoping he has a good future and enjoys it in Washington.”
Daniels had a terrific practice against the Dolphins, passing for multiple touchdowns. As practice ended, Fuller got one on Daniels, intercepting him as practice ended when McLaurin fell.
On Saturday, Fuller will see Daniels again as the Dolphins host the Commanders in the second preseason game for both teams.
