New Delhi: Former civil servants and rights activists on Monday demanded Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar's resignation, issuing a "people's impeachment" notice that levelled six charges against him over the functioning of Election Commission and Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls.
The group, which included former Union home secretary G K Pillai, former Delhi lieutenant governor Najeeb Jung and activist Yogendra Yadav, was prevented from reaching the Elections Commission's office to submit the notice, its members said.
