Former Chelsea and England defender Gary Cahill has announced his retirement from professional football at the age of 36.
Cahill enjoyed seven successful years at Stamford Bridge after completing a £7million move from Bolton in January 2012, winning the Champions League, the Europa League twice, two Premier League titles , two FA Cups and a League Cup. The English defender has been without a club since the end of last season after helping Bournemouth gain promotion back into the Premier League.
Cahill remains the fastest player to win every major trophy in club football after lifting the Champions League, Europa League, Premier League, FA Cup and EFL Cup within three years of moving to Stamford Bridge. Despite his success, it wasn't always an easy ride at Chelsea with former manager Jose Mourinho having previously humiliated the defender in front of his teammates.
