A former Chelsea player has claimed that Liverpool star Trent Alexander-Arnold is defensively at ‘Championship level’.
The Reds right-back has endured a difficult start to the season at Anfield. Alexander-Arnold has just one assist to his name this term, and has struggled in defence at times.
After playing the full 90 minutes in each of Liverpool’s first three Premier League fixtures, Alexander-Arnold was substituted by Jurgen Klopp in each of the last three matches. The 23-year-old has also received some criticism for his form from pundits in the early weeks of the season.

Former Chelsea defender Frank Leboeuf, while praising Alexander-Arnold attacking ability, has criticised his defensive qualities. The ex-centre-back went on to claim that the Liverpool star is defending at ‘Championship level’.
"Look at Trent Alexander-Arnold. I love the guy, his offensive qualities. But defensively, he's Championship level,” Leboeuf told French newspaper Journal du Dimanche.
"Only [Jurgen] Klopp's system works for him. When it doesn't work as well as it has this season, all you see is his defensive shortcomings.
"I want to take him with me to work on the basics. I would say to him: 'Turn your head and look behind you, it will be better already'."
