Former Celtic winger Lewis Morgan admits he's dumped them for first love Rangers

Lewis Morgan has admitted he has flip-flopped his allegiance back to Rangers after playing for Celtic.

The former St Mirren winger played for Celtic for two seasons - with loan spells back to Paisley and at Sunderland - before making the move to the MLS.

Morgan, 26, grew up a Rangers supporter but put his allegiance to one side when he signed for Celtic under Brendan Rodgers in 2018.

However, the forward has now admitted he is back supporting Rangers despite having pulled on the green and white and won the League Cup at the Parkhead side.

In a this or that style interview with Goal, Morgan said: "That's a tough one to answer.

"Rangers. I grew up a Rangers fan. I got the chance to play for Celtic, from a footballing perspective that was a big deal.

"Now that I'm not there anymore and playing over here I'm back to being a Rangers fan."

Goal global captioned the clip: "Imagine being a Rangers fan and playing for Celtic 😬 @redbullfootball"

And fans were divided over his admission with rival supporters making their feelings known.

One user commented: "Surely he can't ever step foot in Glasgow again"

Another replied: "Lewis Morgan you are now dead to me."

While a third wrote: "Wit a riddy fs 😂 back to being fan 😂 thats not how it works. 😂"

Another user stated: "On behalf of all Rangers fans, we respectfully decline your request."

And a fifth joked: "He played like a Rangers supporter when he played for us"

Morgan left Celtic in 2020 to join David Beckham's newly-formed Inter Miami in America.

In December 2021 he was traded to New York Red Bulls for $1.2 million in allocation money.

The winger has 18 goals in 40 appearances for NYRB but is currently sidelined with a hip injury.

Morgan - capped twice for Scotland - went on to claim that he'd rather not qualify for the World Cup with his country than see England lift the trophy.

He said: "I'd probably say not make the World Cup at all to be honest. We're still hearing about them winning it in 1966 or whenever.

"Not make the World Cup at all I guess."
