In 2013, former Boston Celtics point guard Rajon Rondo sustained a knee injury but played through the pain. He put up a triple-double with 16 points, 10 rebounds and 11 assists. Somehow, Rondo remained oblivious to the true extent of his injury until two days later, which the former Celtics champ opened up about on a recent episode of the “Old Man and the Three” podcast.
After participating in a practice session and going through his pregame routine ahead of a matchup against the Miami Heat, a team doctor recommended he visit the hospital for a comprehensive evaluation. After completing his usual pregame routine, Rondo said “one of the docs is like, ‘Come sit on the table.’

During the car ride to the hospital, Rondo’s world changed when he heard the shocking news on the radio; he had suffered an ACL tear.
“That kind of messed me up and put me on an emotional roller coaster,” he said.
“After that, I got about four or five opinions.”
