Former Celtic defender making an impact at Hamilton despite not signing for club, says Tiehi

Hamilton striker John-Pierre Tiehi has revealed former Celtic star Efe Ambrose is having a positive impact on the squad - despite not being on the books at New Douglas Park.

The Nigerian defender has been training with Accies since the start of the season to maintain his fitness and gaffer John Rankin has repeatedly ruled out a move to sign the 33-year-old, insisting he is purely making use of their facilities.

However, the ex-Hibs, St Johnstone and Livingston man is still being put to good use according to Tiehi.

When asked how he had settled into life in Scotland, Tiehi said: "Steve Lawson has helped show me around as we both speak French and Efe Ambrose as well, even although he is just training with us.

"He has showed me around the place. It is my first time in Scotland so I've been shown round the shopping centre and we've gone out for dinners.

"Of course a player like Efe, with the experience he has, is massive for us just to have around.

"He's played in Champions League games and at the highest level so he helps us young players to show how things can be done.

"He is a happy man and just his smile around the place helps everyone feel good as well."

French striker Jean-Pierre Tiehi is at Hamilton Accies on a season-long loan from Fulham (SNS Group)

And asked if players were pushing to get him signed up, he laughed: "Who doesn't want to have Efe on his team?

"But I think we are good with the squad we have.

"He is here and training with us but there is no pressure to bring him in or whatever, but that's not up to us anyway."

Tiehi is at Accies on a season long loan deal and eager to impress with his current contract at Fulham set to expire at the end of the campaign.

But the 20-year-old says he is relaxed about his situation with the Cottagers.

He said: "The contract situation is one where I have this season left and then an option maybe for another.

"But I don't put any pressure on myself.

"I've been at the club for four or five years and I know how it has been for me there, so I'm just playing to enjoy myself.

"I don't worry about contract situations. I'm just trying to play my game at Hamilton and go and impress."
