Former Cardiff primary school left vacant for years set to be demolished

A former primary school in Cardiff is set to be demolished having been empty for nearly four years. Ysgol Gymraeg Glan Morfa moved out of their former site in Moorland Road in Splott in 2018 before moving into a new complex nearby.

The old site has been left vacant ever since but is now set to be knocked down as part of a redevelopment project that will see it replaced partly with social housing. Get the latest planning news from across Cardiff sent straight to your inbox by signing up to our newsletters.

Hoarding boards appeared around the site's perimeter earlier in the year with residents notified by Cardiff council about plans to demolish the building, which has stood for several decades. A planning application was submitted to the council in April but developers were told that there was insufficient information about the project's impact on trees and local endangered wildlife.
