Former Bristol City striker Milan Djuric is closing on a return to England in the Premier League with Nottingham Forest and Brentford both interested, according to reports.
Djuric, 32, spent a year and a half at Ashton Gate following his big-money move from Cesena in 2017 but his time in BS3 was hampered by two groin injuries that required surgery and therefore he struggled for fitness for large periods during his time on the South West.
The towering striker made just 27 league appearances at the Robins, scoring five goals before City cut their losses and allowed him to leave for Salernitana for a fee believed to be around £625,000 in the summer of 2018. One of his most notable strikes came at Sunderland when he scored the winner from the bench to send City into the play-offs.
Upon his exit at City, the Bosnian left a parting message to supporters that read: "I had imagined that these 18 months would have been different but this is football and life. Thanks all the fans, players and staff! good luck for the future!"
Reports in Italian publication La Gazzetta dello Sport claim a number of clubs are looking towards Djuric this summer as he prepares to leave Serie A side Salernitana on a free transfer.
Forest want more options in attack as they plot their Premier League survival following their promotion for the first time in 23 years. Manager Steve Cooper is looking towards bolstering his frontline with loanee Keinan Davis set to return to Aston Villa.
Brentford are also reportedly looking into his situation and the 6ft 6" striker can offer something different in attack although is likely to be eyed as an impact player from the bench.
They are likely to face competition from Besiktas, who have reportedly offered him a contract, while Torino are believed to be interested. Salernitana also haven't ruled out signing him to a contract extension.
Meanwhile, it remains to be seen whether Forest will reignite their interest in Antoine Semenyo ahead of the new season. With Lewis Grabban likely to depart, Sam Surridge remains their only out-and-out forward.
Bristol Live understands Forest launched a deadline day January bid for City's key man which was unsurprisingly knocked back having fallen well short of City's £20million valuation.
