Former Bengals WR Chad Johnson says Russell Wilson could join Steelers

Former Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Chad Johnson has some thoughts about the future of the AFC North, particularly when it comes to the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Johnson, appearing on his podcast with Shannon Sharpe, recently suggested Denver Broncos passer Russell Wilson might be headed for Pittsburgh.

Wilson’s future in Denver is very much open for debate, given the apparent rift with head coach Sean Payton (and the big money involved). Should he end up cut, it will be one of the biggest dead money cap hits in league history, which could mean his next deal with a new team is pretty cheap as he seeks to join a contender.

Could that contender be the Steelers? It has sounded like the Steelers are locked in to Kenny Pickett and Mason Rudolph, but that report came at a time Wilson wasn’t closer to hitting the open market.

For the Bengals, Wilson coming to the AFC North wouldn’t be ideal. Over just 15 games last year, he threw 26 scores and eight picks and in Pittsburgh, he would have an elite cast of talent at the skill positions.

Still, we’re in wait and see mode, with Chad’s comments interesting more than anything else right now.
