Former Bengals 1st-round pick might already be out for season with new team

The Cincinnati Bengals have revamped the offensive tackle spot over the last few seasons, signing Orlando Brown Jr. to play on the left side.

On the right side, the team got one more year out of former first-round pick Jonah Williams, then signed Trent Brown to man the spot while first-round rookie Amarius Mims developed.

That plan already hit a hitch when Brown was lost for the season to an injury, prompting the promising rookie Mims to get in the lineup right after recovering from an injury of his own.

As for Williams, he’s off in Arizona with the Cardinals on a two-year, $30 million deal and dealing with an injury himself.

Williams, in fact, might already be out for the season, depending on how his injury responds to treatment.

Especially late in his tenure with the team, Williams played through injuries and offseason operations while professionally handling the sudden switch to right tackle once Brown arrived.

Now, though, it sounds like his debut season with a new team could be in jeopardy.

The Bengals, meanwhile, have to hope that Mims can stay healthy — because he just stonewalled one of the NFL’s best pass-rushers.
