Former Belfast City Council boss Suzanne Wylie to head up NI Chamber

The NI Chamber, one of Northern Ireland’s most influential business bodies, has appointed Suzanne Wylie as its new chief executive.

The former boss of Belfast City Council takes over the role after just over a year as chief executive of the government of Jersey and will replace Ann McGregor who is stepping down after 15 years.

Ms Wylie is expected to be in position this summer and will be focused on representing its business members from throughout Northern Ireland. It is a task which she will be familiar with having worked hard at Belfast City Council to showcase the city region as a place to invest and do business.

Her appointment was welcomed by the president of Northern Ireland Chamber of Commerce Gillian McAuley.

“Replacing Ann was always going to be a challenge after her long and successful track record at NI Chamber,” she said. “However, we are delighted that Suzanne, with all her extensive experience and expertise, will be our new Chief Executive.

She said there is considerable opportunity to prime the province for success in the future.

“Businesses in Northern Ireland face a multitude of challenges at the moment but there is also immense opportunity as the region emerges as the ideal location for business expansion,” she said. “Under Suzanne’s leadership, NI Chamber will continue to work with businesses across all sectors to give voice to their issues and to promote sustained economic growth in Northern Ireland.

“Exciting times lie ahead for Northern Ireland Chamber of Commerce and I look forward to working closely with Suzanne as we continue to maximise our impact and potential.”
