Nine westerners have been abducted by the Taliban over recent months, according to a former Afghanistan vice president.

Former BBC journalist Andrew North has been named as one of those who have been kidnapped the tweet from Amrullah Saleh claimed, reports The Mirror.

It went on to allege there was a "suffocating atmosphere" which meant many crimes were being hidden.
