Former All Pro CB Marcus Peters visiting Raiders

As the slow march toward the heart of the offseason program goes, there are still a few free agents out there who are yet to be signed. And unless they’re considering retirement, the clock is ticking for many of them to latch on somewhere.

One of the more high profile remaining free agents is Marcus Peters. Who is visiting the Raiders today according to Vic Tafur of The Athletic.

The 30-year-old cornerback was an All Pro just two seasons ago while splitting time with the Rams and Ravens.

He has spent the past two full seasons in Baltimore and his contract was up last March, but he didn’t find a team quickly like many of his fellow high profile free agents did.

Peters is entering his ninth NFL season, having originally been drafted at 18 overall by the Chiefs out of Washington.

In 2017, Peters was suspended for a game due to a rift between him and head coach Andy Reid. The following offseason, he was traded to the Rams.

Despite consistently putting up big interception numbers, he has twice been traded, first by the Chiefs to the Rams and then to the Ravens. These trades as well as his inability to find a new team now are indicative of how he is viewed around the league as having an attitude problem. Now he’s on the wrong side of 30.

It will be interesting to see if he can convince the Raiders coaching staff that he can be more of an asset on the field than he is an issue off of it.
