Former 2 Sisters site in Anglesey goes on sale

Anglesey's former 2 Sisters site has gone on the market. The chicken processing plant had been employing hundreds of workers in Llangefni since 1970.

But in January this year 2 Sisters announced that it was shutting its site, where 700 workers were employed. The firm had said the plant was old and would require significant investment to bring it up to the same standard as its other locations.

It closed its doors at the end of March. Ynys Mon MS Rhun ap Iorwerth described it as a “difficult day for everybody” involved with the site and the wider island. The building wasn't owned by 2 Sisters and is instead in the hands of a related company called Amber Real Estates Investments Ltd. Now the factory and surrounding land has been put up for sale with Legat Owen.

It has a price tag of offers over £2m and is being marketed as 'Llangefni Point'. Legat Owen said it was a "detached former production facility" set on 8.37 acres of land.

Anglesey Council’s chief executive, Dylan J. Williams, said their priorities included "securing a viable future for the site and safeguarding our island’s economy".

He added: "A continuing commitment to collaborate from both Welsh and UK governments and our partner organisations remains vital.”
