Forest officials warn of Idukki airstrip’s impact on tiger reserve

IDUKKI: The proposed airstrip at Satram near Vandiperiyar in Idukki will be causing a huge environmental impact and it will destroy Periyar Tiger Reserve (PTR), said the letters by the forest department to the chief wildlife warden.

But the department has not taken any action based on the letters yet. In addition, the forest department has not yet provided a reply to the reminder letter sent by the National Tiger Conservation Authority (NTCA).
