Forensics have been spotted combing the scene of an 'unexplained' death in Port Glasgow.
Emergency services were scrambled to Lilybank Road and Glenburn Street near St John's Primary School in the town at 12.40am today after a man was found seriously injured.
Cops locked down the streets as medics attended, but the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
A police investigation has been launched into the death, which officers are treating as unexplained.
Forensics officers in white suits, masks and gloves have since been seen collecting evidence this afternoon as the area remains cordoned off.
Road closure signs have been erected in the neighbourhood to advise motorists and pedestrians of the shutdown.
There are currently a number of police cars and vans there and officers standing guard.
A team of Police Detectives with different pieces of equipment and evidence bags are also on site.
As officers continue to carry out their enquiries, they have urged members of the public with any details about what happened to contact police on 101.
Detective Inspector Nicola Wake, of Greenock CID, said: “Officers received report of a man having been found injured in the lane between Lilybank Road and Glenburn Street in Port Glasgow around 12.40am on Friday, May 6, 2022.
“Emergency services attended and the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
“The death is being treated as unexplained and enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances."
