A heart-warming video has gone viral on social media after foreign tourists accidentally wandered into a funeral, mistaking it for a food court, and were warmly welcomed by the grieving family as guests.

The feel-good story was widely shared online on Jan 31 after a Facebook user posted footage taken at a funeral in Nakhon Si Thammarat where several foreign visitors entered the venue, mistaking it for a food court. Seeing round tables laden with dishes, the tourists assumed the area was a buffet restaurant or a local food event.

Upon realising that the gathering was a funeral, the tourists were visibly shocked and immediately apologised, preparing to leave out of respect. However, the hosts insisted that the visitors share a meal with them, and refused any payment.

Reports later revealed that a second group of foreign tourists had also made the same mistake the next day and were received with the same warmth and hospitality.

The incident drew widespread praise from online users, many describing it as a true reflection of Thailand’s charm
