An incident involving the explosion of walkie-talkies and pagers in Lebanon earlier this week has been linked to tampering by foreign entities, as per a letter from Lebanon’s Permanent Mission to the United Nations. The letter, dated Thursday, stated that these devices were modified by foreign entities before reaching Lebanon, causing them to emit electronic signals that led to the explosions.
The letter was shared with members of the UN Security Council in preparation for a meeting discussing the attacks scheduled for Friday afternoon. This revelation comes in the wake of Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant indirectly acknowledging Israel's involvement in the twin attacks, hinting at a new phase in Israel's military strategy on the northern front.
These incidents occurred following Israel's decision on Monday to expand its objectives in the conflict with Iran-backed Hamas and Hezbollah. One of the newly added goals is to ensure the safe return of residents living along the northern border with Lebanon to their homes.
