Forecasters predict 'much better' weather for Ireland as Met Eireann pinpoints day it will turn

After a wicked weekend of weather which saw parts of the country flood in heavy rain showers, Ireland will go through a much more settled time in the next few days.

Kerry, Cork and Waterford in particular were battered by thundery downpours on Saturday and Sunday, with difficult road conditions and some power outages being reported.

But Monday's showers may be the last bit of rain we see for the next week and a half.

That's the latest prediction from Alan O'Reilly, the expert the CarlowWeather social media page.

The newest models available to him are looking fairly solid - even leading him to make a prediction for the National Ploughing Championships.

He wrote: "A very dry outlook on the weather models now with little to no rain expected after today for next 7-10 days. It even looks like it could hold good for the (Ploughing) next week."

And it seems that Met Éireann agree, as their forecasts bring further details of the nice spell we are in store for.

It starts on Tuesday, which will be a "mainly dry day with long spells of sunshine. Feeling fresher with highest temperatures of 15 to 19C, warmest in the south, in a light to moderate northerly breeze."

Wednesday is a similar story, as it starts dry with a bit of cloud.

Met Eireann say: "The best of the sunny spells across the south and southeast. A few light showers will continue across the north, especially along the coast. Highest temperatures of 15 to 19 C."

And Thursday follows the trend too, as it'll be another "predominantly dry day with good sunny spells breaking through after a cloudy start. Feeling fresher with highs of 14 to 17C in mostly moderate northerly breezes."
