A forager was shocked when he discovered a collection of the UK’s largest mushrooms.
Mateusz Sztajnert-Bluj, made the discovery in Beecraigs Country Park, Edinburgh over the weekend while out taking a walk.
He's had an interest in foraging since he was young and began getting more involved in the hobby a few years ago
During his most recent wander he discovered a collection of Dryad's Saddle, the UK’s biggest mushroom, he said was as big as a sheep.
Mateusz says he has never seen as big a collection of the fungus before on any of his walks over the last few weeks.
He told Edinburgh Live: “I'm sure it is Dryad's Saddle.
"It was the first time I've ever found it. I even didn't take any of it home, as I heard that it gets corky as it matures. I found it in Beecraigs County Park on a walk.
"I live in the Heartlands, a new estate in Whitburn. My foraging adventure started, as it does for most Polish people, when I was a young boy. I guess we have it in our genes.
"My family and I used to walk in the woods. That's where my basic skills comes from.
"About three years back I started to read about foraging on websites and I learned some more. I joined some Facebook groups to share some experiences, and get help with identifying mushrooms I didn't see when I was younger.
"I guess that's my foraging adventure so far."
Earlier this year a savvy mum with five years' experience of foraging for food shared her tricks and tips to help other parents, including how she packs her dinners full of nutrients.
Mum-of-two Kaye Wilkinson first started learning about foraging when chronic arthritis and ulcerative colitis left her unable to work, surviving on a small budget.
The 48-year-old began scouring nearby open fields for plants and vegetation that she could use in her cooking, avoiding expensive supermarket veg and limiting money spent on petrol.
A few of her favourite ingredients include nettles, dandelions, beech tree leaves, wild mushrooms and rose petals - which all makes its way into her kids' stomachs.
However, there are some dangers that need to be avoided, including dog urine.
