For the record

• An article (Mothers with babies should not be jailed, UK public believes, 25 February, p14) said “there is currently no obligation for judges to consider pregnancy or maternity in sentencing decisions”. There is no direct statutory obligation, but there is a statutory duty for courts to follow the sentencing guidelines, which include such provisions (see letters).

• We said that the Welsh government had “brought in a new payments scheme” in which farmers will have to prove that 10% of their land is woodland and 10% of it is quality habitat for wildlife. In fact, this is a proposal under the sustainable farming scheme that is currently under consultation (Sunak stands with net zero and climate conspiracy group at farming protest, 25 February, p5).

• A match report of the drawn game between Everton and Brighton misnamed the Everton player Amadou Onana as André Onana. The latter plays for Manchester United (Dunk’s late intervention denies Dyche priceless win, 25 February, Sport, p10).
