• When quoting the late writer and activist Darcus Howe, we mistakenly referred to him as a Labour MP (‘Another layer of pigment needed adding to the canvas’ , 7 April, New Review, p8). Meanwhile, a review of Andy Burnham and Steve Rotheram’s book Head North said the House of Commons speaker Lindsay Hoyle was not a sitting MP; in fact, he is the member for Chorley in Lancashire (Northern mayors’ manifesto for hope, 7 April, New Review, p42).
• An article (‘A deeply broken system’: is it time to abandon council tax?, 7 April, p52) referred to the Northern Line extension of the London Underground being funded by £1.1bn of “taxpayer money”. In fact, £300m was contributed by the Battersea Power Station Development Company, with the rest of the investment, provided by the Public Works Loan Board, better described as “taxpayer backed”.
• Bardo Martinez is the vocalist whose falsetto “brings home the group’s singalong melodies” on Chicano Batman’s new album Notebook Fantasy, not Eduardo Arenas as our review said. Arenas plays bass (31 March, New Review, p35).
