• Gotland, home to Tofta beach, is Sweden’s largest island, not Denmark’s as we said (“Nordi shores”, 21 July, Magazine, p34).
• The late 18th-century painting Pulcinella and the Tumblers is by Giandomenico Tiepolo, not his father Giambattista Tiepolo as we mistakenly said in the answer to Guess the Painting last week (New Review, p46).
• A typographical error led an article to state that independent review bodies had recommended a pay rise for “514,00” teachers. To clarify, the number is 514,000 (“Why Rachel Reeves wants everyone to know that the Tories left the Treasury brassic“, 28 July, p47).
• Minnesota is Josh Hartnett’s home state, not the actor’s “hometown” as an interview with him said (“‘I didn’t want to be swallowed up’“, 28 July, Magazine, p8).
• It was in 1970, not 1972, when Keith Michell starred in the BBC2 series The Six Wives of Henry VIII. 1972 was the year of the spin-off film, Henry VIII and His Six Wives, in which Michell reprised the role (“Royal stinker: How Henry VIII changed from heroic to hideous on our screens“, 28 July, p40).
