• A feature about foodie destinations included Tisbury in Wiltshire and referred to The Beckford Bottle Shop. That was the former name of the establishment, which now operates in Bath. The Tisbury wine merchant is called Gardner & Beedle (“Catch of the day”, 31 December, Magazine, p33).
• An article said that, “In 2016 Team GB won women’s hockey gold at the Beijing Olympics”. The reference should have been to Rio de Janeiro, where the Games were held that year. Beijing hosted the event in 2008 (“Sport isn’t only about winning, it has many valuable lessons to teach us in our everyday life”, 7 January, Magazine, p32).
• The Bear pub and hotel mentioned in a travel article (“Tales from the towpath”, 7 January, Magazine, p30) is the one in Hungerford, not Devizes as stated.
• Judy Chicago’s solo show at the Serpentine will be her first major exhibition in a London gallery, rather than “in a British gallery” as we said. A significant collection of the artist’s work was shown at the Baltic in Gateshead in 2019-2020 (“Cultural highlights for 2024”, 7 January, New Review, p12).
• In our calendar feature “An artwork a day for January 2024” (31 December, New Review, p14), we muddled numbers in saying Piero della Francesca’s Madonna del Parto was painted circa “1640”; we meant 1460.
• As the critic’s “wow” rating may have indicated, the salmon raviolo at the Glasgow restaurant 111 by Modou, was accompanied by a dill emulsion, not a “dull emulsion” (“Food and drink”, 31 December, Magazine, p26).
