For old pension, employees hold massive protest in Shimla, gherao assembly complex

SHIMLA Assembly Himachal Pradesh

SHIMLA: Thousands of government employees, covered under New Pension Scheme (NPS), gheraoed the Himachal Pradesh assembly in Shimla on Thursday to demand the implementation of Old pension Scheme.

Police tried to stop them near 103 tunnel and the near the assembly complex by using water canons and erecting barricades but smashing all hurdles, employees managed to ghreao the assembly. For a while minor scuffle was also witnessed between the police and protestors. Opposition Congress and CM legislators raised the issue in the Assembly and even staged a walkout after Speaker turned down adjournment notice to discuss the issue.
