T'PURAM: The jubilation over veteran Congress leader KV Thomas' decision to attend a seminar at the ongoing CPM party Congress, by disobeying Congress high command, could be yet another subtle ploy by CPM state unit to convince its central leadership about the futility of stitching together a Congress-led alliance to rein in BJP at the national level.

The enthusiasm with which politburo members like MA Baby try to eulogise Thomas' daring action only underscores the glaring difference of opinion the party state unit nurses when it comes to the Congress question.
