A footballer who died after being stabbed on a nightclub dancefloor on Boxing Day has been named by police as his heartbroken family paid tribute to him.
Cody Fisher was attacked in the Crane venue in Birmingham just before 11.45pm, West Midlands Police said. The 23-year-old had been on a night out with friends when he was approached by a group of people and stabbed, according to the force.
A statement shared by the police and attributed to Cody’s family said: “They have broken our hearts; I have lost my best friend. My family and I are asking for privacy and respectfulness at this heart-breaking time.”
